Nothing to See Here by Kevin Wilson

Nothing to see here is a light-hearted and quirky tale about Lillian and Maddison, two very different women, and how their lives have unexpectedly intertwined.

Set in modern America, the story presents Lillian, hovering in the space between a young woman and middle aged; underachieving, unhappy and unmotivated to make changes to better her world.

The arrival of a letter from her old friend Maddison, brings surprise and intrigue.

Maddison is an upper-class citizen across the country, happily married to a white house politician, who has two children from a previous marriage. The letter invites Lillian to their home, with Maddison making an offer of employment as a nanny to the children. Lillian hesitates- Maddison was manipulative during their school years, and wonders if the offer is too good to be true. Lillian soon learns that the children have a unique condition that requires constant care and supervision, which Maddison was not willing to provide.

Nothing to see here juxtaposes the lives of these women, and show us that the bond of friendship and the strength of motherhood can overcome wealth, heritage or status.

Nothing to see here is a quick read with a witty undertone and sharp dialogue. It is the latest release from Kevin Wilson, who previously wrote The Family Fang and Perfect Little World. Nothing to see here is available to read as an eBook with the Libby app through Overdrive.
