The Wattle Island Book Club by Sandie Docker

The Wattle Island Book Club by Sandie Docker is a book full of mystery, hope and adventure. It follows stories of two women, Grace and Anne. Anne has lived on the island for majority of her life, except for a brief period when she tried to make a new life for herself in Sydney in the early 50's. After returning to the island, she establishes the first Wattle Island book club that lasts decades until a tragedy strikes that sees the club closing its doors.

After several years, Anne tries to revive the book club to help everyone heal and enlists the help of a librarian, Grace, from the mainland. As their stories come together, Grace tries to piece together the story of what happened years ago, and we’re taken on an emotional journey through decades of heartache. The story is told from both Anne and Grace’s point of view in alternating chapters, so we get to see the world from both their perspectives.

I cannot recommend this book enough. It is beautifully written and full of heart.
