Greater Dandenong City Council is excited to welcome the festive spirit this year with large scale decorations and roving performers throughout our activity centres.
In Dandenong a festive mural adorns the steps leading up to Harmony Square, where the much-loved Santa and reindeer is delighting visitors and library goers. Two Dandenong Library display windows illustrate the Christmas theme, one with a traditional Nativity scene and the other with a specially crafted Christmas design. The Waterloo Star is set up in Langhorne Place and reindeer and tree atop the corner of Lonsdale and Clow streets.
In Springvale, Multicultural Place hosts a six-metre Christmas Tree and Springvale Community Hub an even larger nine-metre tree. Another eight-metre tree decorates the Civic Space in Douglas Street, Noble Park.
The large decorations complement a range of smaller ones in all activity centres, including Christmas-themed tree and pole surrounds, decorations on public seating, and metal decorations across Springvale and Noble Park.
Roving performers will also interact with visitors to Dandenong, Noble Park and Springvale in the lead up to Christmas.
Enjoy performances from multi-skilled musicians as they perform three, 45-minute sets at:
- Harmony Square and Palm Plaza in Dandenong on Friday 15 and Thursday 21 December from 11am-2pm
- Central Noble Park on Thursday 14 December from 3pm- 6pm and Tuesday 19 December from 2pm-5pm
- Springvale's Multicultural Place on Monday 18 December from 11am-2pm and Friday 22 December from 2pm-5pm.
We also celebrate the return of Carols in Harmony Square on Friday 1 December.
And in the spirit of giving, Springvale Community Hub hosts a Christmas Giving Drive, collecting donations of material aid and gifts for those doing it tough this Christmas.
Donations can be placed under the Christmas tree inside the library until Friday 15 December and items will be distributed via local aid agencies.
