'Inspiration on the Hill’ Exhibition

A brick built 1930s house, surrounded by a garden

The exquisite, peaceful, colourful and ever-changing gardens of the historic homes, Benga and Laurel Lodge at Heritage Hill have inspired artists throughout the decades.

This exhibition features a selection of artwork created at Heritage Hill during the City of Greater Dandenong art competitions ‘Painting on the Hill’ and ‘Inspired’ during the 1990s and early 2000s.

The ‘Painting on the Hill’ competition challenged artists to complete an artwork in the gardens at Heritage Hill within five hours. At the conclusion of the competition financial awards were presented in the categories of: Dandenong Club award ‘Best in Show’, Dandenong Market award ‘Most Creative Interpretation’', People’s Choice Award and the Secondary School Art Award.

In 2003 the ‘Painting on the Hill’ Competition won the Museum Australia Industry Recognition Award for the Most Outstanding Professional Project.

Come along and enjoy the meditative beauty of the gardens at Heritage Hill.
