Little India Cultural Precinct, central Dandenong.
Artist: Julian Clavijo

Internationally acclaimed Melbourne artist Julian Clavijo has created a mural celebrating Sikh culture and the 32nd Australian Sikh Games which were held in south east Melbourne in 2019. The eyes of a central figure of a small boy wearing a marigold coloured turban, follow you around the site and his warm smile offers a radiating welcome.

Artist Julian Clavijo was born in Colombia and is currently based in Melbourne. In 2011, he completed a Masters of Arts (Art in Public Space) at RMIT University in Melbourne. A painter and sculptor from a young age, Julian’s studio practice is based on capturing the human face of transnational conflict around the world, vulnerable civilian populations and the innocence of children in war, and translating these into reflections of a joyful childhood.
