Across the year, Heritage Hill Museum and Historic Gardens invites our local community to experience heritage in new ways through four seasonal Community Open Days.
Each event connects to exhibitions, stories, and the changing gardens, offering welcoming activities for all ages — from creative workshops and discovery trails to picnicking, storytelling, and hands-on exploration.
Whether you visit once or join us throughout the year, each Open Day offers a chance to connect with the people, places, and stories that shape Greater Dandenong.
Different themes will be explored each quarter.
July's theme:
- Winter shifts the focus indoors with an invitation to uncover extraordinary stories hidden in everyday objects.
Aligned with the exhibition Extraordinary Stories: Collection Highlights, this Open Day explores significant objects of people, places and events from the Greater Dandenong Civic and Cultural Heritage Collection. Visitors can follow a museum detective trail through the houses, hear short curator talks, and examine replica objects to learn how museums uncover the stories behind artefacts. Families are invited to create their own mini museum by choosing objects that tell a story about their life today. This program highlights that history lives not only in museums, but in the objects and memories we share.
Free event. Bookings recommended. Drop-ins welcome.
