Heritage Hill Community Open Day

Heritage Hill outside Benga and a person walking inside

Across the year, Heritage Hill Museum and Historic Gardens invites our local community to experience heritage in new ways through four seasonal Community Open Days.

Each event connects to exhibitions, stories, and the changing gardens, offering welcoming activities for all ages — from creative workshops and discovery trails to picnicking, storytelling, and hands-on exploration.

Whether you visit once or join us throughout the year, each Open Day offers a chance to connect with the people, places, and stories that shape Greater Dandenong.

Different themes will be explored each quarter.

April's theme:

  • Finding Your Way – Inspired by The Maze: Past, Present and Legacy
Autumn begins the journey with a celebration of community creativity and identity inspired by the exhibition The Maze: Past, Present and Legacy
Families are invited to explore the exhibition, discover the story of the original youth-led artwork, and take part in creative activities that reflect the many paths’ people take to call Greater Dandenong home.
Children and adults can design small maze panels, contribute to a collaborative artwork, and decorate memory tiles representing journeys, cultures, and personal stories.
With music, art-making, and activities across the gardens and historic houses, this Open Day highlights how community voices and creativity can bring people together.
