The South East Business Networks (SEBN) program was created over 30 years ago by Greater Dandenong City Council. This reputable program is delivered by Council's Business Development and Investment Department. This program has been built on a strong reputation for providing strategic networking opportunities, capability-building initiatives and tailored support for local manufacturing businesses in the South East of Melbourne.
The SEBN program predominately targets the manufacturing sector, with the exception of the Women In Business Network.
SEBN is well known for ‘Building Better Business’ by providing opportunities for people at all organisational levels to come together and:
- Strengthen manufacturing knowledge and capability
- Enhance leadership/organisational capability
- Peer to peer learning to enhance best practice
- Engage and collaborate on common issues and problems.
The SEBN Offering
Manufacturing Xcellence (MFG) - This network is open to anyone working within the Manufacturing sector seeking peer to peer learning. Members meet regularly onsite at leading manufacturing industries to gain practical insights, see proven methods in action such as LEAN thinking. Focus areas include factory floor automation, AI and sustainable practices.
Future of Manufacturing (FOM) - This closed network acts as an inhouse sounding board for owners and CEOs of Manufacturing companies in Greater Dandenong. The aim of this network is to provide support to those running their own manufacturing businesses. The group meet to discuss a range of immediate issues and gain insights and ideas from those in the group. Topics can include hiring methodologies, challenges with supply chain management, access to skilled personnel, dealing with suppliers or Government regulation. Operating under the Chatham House rule, information about sessions may not be shared and any personal details are kept anonymous.
Workplace Health and Safety (WH&S) - Local manufacturing businesses (all levels) come together to strengthen safety leadership, share practical solutions, and stay up to date with WH&S obligations and best practice. A key highlight is the Mock Court event which occurs in October each year.
Women in Business (WIB) - A supportive and dynamic community for women entrepreneurs, professionals, and leaders across Melbourne’s south‑eastern region. This network meets four times per year. Additionally, we also host key 'showcasing' breakfast or lunch events which are bigger in style such as our International Women's Day event. Anybody is welcome to attend these events.
