Council is making improvements to pedestrian safety at Dandenong Market by replacing the existing pedestrian crossings at Cleeland Street and Clow Street with raised crossings and speed cushions.
Work on the new crossings will commence from mid-January 2026 and will be completed in the months ahead. The changes will:
- Slow down vehicle traffic, making it safer for pedestrians to cross
- Improve visibility between drivers and pedestrians
- Enhance accessibility for people of all ages and abilities
- Support a more walkable, people-friendly environment.
There will be temporary changes to traffic flow, parking availability, and access points during the upgrade period.
Greater Dandenong City Council is working to minimise inconvenience and ensure the works are completed as efficiently as possible. Clear signage and alternative access routes will be in place to help everyone navigate the area safely.
