After the success of the temporary Pop Up Park on Foster Street, the multi-use court on the corner of George and Cadle Street was built as its permanent home back in 2019.The multi-use court was delivered as part of the Victorian governments Revitalising Central Dandenong initiative with contributions from the Victorian Government and the City of Greater Dandenong.
After identifying the need for activation at this space, Melbourne City Football Club demonstrated an interest for their City in the Community arm to deliver programming and activations at this location. Melbourne City Football Club, with the support of Development Victoria and the City of Greater Dandenong, have now resurfaced and rebranded the multi-use court on George Street with the Melbourne City Football Club logo. City in the Community now have a dedicated space, the ‘Blue Pitch’, which they can use to activate with programmes and promote physical activity opportunities to the community.
The space will not only be used by Melbourne City Football Club, as its multi-use name suggests there are a number of sports and activities that the court can be used for including soccer, basketball and netball. It is available for the community to use whenever and however they choose.
Positioned within in central Dandenong and only a short walk from Dandenong Station, this multi-use court is the perfect place for locals to socialise and connect with each other through unstructured and informal recreation activities.
