Work is underway to upgrade the dog off leash area at Simpson Drive Reserve in Dandenong North. The project will deliver a safer and more enjoyable space for dogs and their owners through the creation of a fully enclosed off leash area with improved visitor amenities.
The upgrade will include a gated entry, new seating and bins to support the growing needs of the local community. Construction is expected to be completed in December 2026.
Simpson Drive Reserve is a valued local open space that provides opportunities for recreation, exercise and outdoor activity for residents and visitors. The reserve's dog off leash area is an important community facility that allows dogs to exercise and socialise in a dedicated space.
The planned improvements will enhance the usability and safety of the area while helping ensure the facility continues to meet community needs into the future.

Works will take place within the southern section of Simpson Drive Reserve.
Construction is scheduled to begin in October 2026 and is expected to be completed in December 2026, subject to contractor availability, weather conditions and material supply.
Works will generally occur between 7.00am and 5.00pm on weekdays.
During construction, some areas of the reserve may be temporarily affected while new fencing and associated infrastructure are installed. Council will work to minimise disruptions wherever possible.
These improvements will provide a safer, more accessible and enjoyable environment for dogs and their owners while supporting the long-term use of the reserve by the community.
