Council sought feedback from the community which helped shape the final design for Bakers Reserve at 129-137 Bakers Road, Dandenong North.
There was strong support to make improvements to increase the activities within the reserve and enhance the landscaping.
The final concept plan is aligned with the following:
- allocated budget for 2023-2024 financial year
- staging plan to inform future capital improvement works bids to Council
- a Neighbourhood level park - see section Appendix B: Park Development Standards of the Greater Dandenong Open Space Strategy 2020-2030
- a Neighbourhood level playground - see the Greater Dandenong Playground Strategy and Action Plan 2013-2023.
The key elements of the final concept plan and the implementation of the project works are:
Stage 1 works 2023-24
- full sized futsal court with an acrylic surface, two basketball / soccer goals, fencing and drainage
- concrete path from Bakers Road to the new futsal court.
Future stages – subject to funding
The following projects are subject to future capital improvement bids being supported through council’s annual budget process:
- a Neighbourhood level playground
- expanded picnic and BBQ area with picnic table settings, BBQ, seats and drinking fountain
- gravel circuit walking path
- netball practice goal circle
- fitness equipment
- additional park seats
- tree planting
- garden beds with indigenous species.
