2024 Qing Ming at Springvale Botanical Cemetery

In 2024, Qing Ming is on Thursday 4 April and the Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust (SMCT) welcomes community members to honour and celebrate their loved ones at Springvale Botanical Cemetery. Please note that the Qing Ming period coincides with the Easter holidays, and they expect more visitors on site during these times.   

SMCT will provide traffic management and an information tent on weekends to assist community members. Cleaning stations with water tanks and special ash waste bins will also be supplied, as well as incense sticks and additional rubbish bins during the entire period.    

Please cool down the burning ashes before placing them into the special ash waste bins. There will be water available at the cleaning stations you can use to wet the ashes. You will need to return all cleaning supplies after use.    

SMCT prioritises safety and cleanliness in all activities to protect community members and the environment. This year, they will not be providing burning bins and the sale of burning offerings to align with their fire safety and risk measures. SMCT also encourage you to recycle plastic packaging at home before visiting our sites for Qing Ming.      

Their new Café Vita et flores mobile catering truck will be on site serving beverages, sweet and savoury food, as well as fresh flowers between 9am and 3pm on the following dates and locations:     

• Saturday 30 March – Mausoleum precinct    

• Sunday 31 March – Mausoleum precinct   

• Monday 1 April – Song He Yuan    

• Thursday 4 April – Song He Yuan
