Jump Cut Shorts

Animated still from Steve Kimber.

Join us for a creative and inspiring Jump Cut Screening Afternoon of popcorn and pixels, celebrating the imagination and innovation of emerging filmmakers and digital storytelling through a vibrant showcase of short films and looping animations.

Featuring more than 100 animations from the LoopdeLoop challange, featuring animators from around Australia, the program responds to the theme “Nocturnal: Plants thrive at night after humans have gone”. The selected works explore hidden ecologies, dreamlike futures and the surreal energy of the night.

Prize winners will be announced during the event.

Plus, the session also includes the Best of Live Action Dramas selected from the past decade of Swinburne Diploma of Screen and Media, spotlighting the creativity and innovation of emerging screen practitioners.

The continuation of the bold new Jump Cut program is a chance to meet filmmakers, connect with industry professionals and immerse yourself in contemporary screen culture in the heart of Dandenong.

Presented by Greater Dandenong City Council in partnership with Swinburne University of Technology and LoopdeLoop.
