Welcome to the Game Swim a program run in partnership with the Noble Park Aquatic Centre.

This is a free inclusive swim program focusing on water safety, confidence and enjoyment. It will designed to include and support people from refugee and migrant backgrounds with disabilities, autism and additional support needs to increase their physical activity levels, make social connections and develop water safety skills.

It will run every Tuesday for eight weeks from 2 May to 20 June.

Program provides:

  • Small group sessions with a maximum of three students per class.
  • Limited number of 1:1 student/teacher ratio lessons may be available depending on individual needs.
  • 30 min session slots allocated between 4.30pm and 7.30pm.
  • Classes allocated based on individual support needs, swimming/water ability/experience, confidence, availability, eligibility etc.
  • Trauma-informed/healing-centered approach.
  • Parents/support workers encouraged to enter the water and actively support participation as required. 
  • Parents and siblings of Welcome to the Game Participants can also be supported to access mainstream classes for a kick-start period at the centre in order to promote water safety skills and confidence and sustained participation in healthy active water-based recreation for the whole family.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Age 5-25
  • Born overseas or have a parent born overseas or speak a language other than English at home
  • Identify with having a disability/autism/additional support need (formal diagnosis not required)

Please note: All above three criteria required to be eligible for Welcome to the Game Swim.

There will be an end of program graduation/celebration event on Tuesday 28 June, 11am – 1pm (during the school holidays).

Date and Time

Every Tuesday, 4.30pm-7.30pm (30-minute classes allocated)
