Greater Dandenong Council is seeking community members and professionals to join the Disability Advisory Committee.
The Committee serves as a key forum for issues affecting people with disabilities and providing informed recommendations on strategies, policies, and services that promote inclusion and accessibility.
The objectives of the Disability Advisory Committee are to:
- Bring community perspectives to Council decision making processes
- Promote and support Council’s roles through engagement and advocacy
- Assist Council to identify, articulate and respond appropriately to community needs and emerging issues
- Assist in the development and implementation of corporate policies, plans and programs that benefit the community
- Provide input, advice and specialised knowledge to support Council decision making processes in a timely and effective manner on issues relating to people with disabilities
Council is committed to working collaboratively with residents, businesses, and service providers to build a strong, inclusive community where people of all abilities feel welcome and valued.
This is a non-constituted committee of Council, made up of residents and professionals with a strong interest in disability matters. Councillor representation is appointed annually through Council’s statutory process. The Committee meets at least every two months and is a voluntary position.

Term of Appointment
Individual members will hold a two-year period appointment until 29 February 2028.
Should there be a need for the Disability Advisory Committee to continue beyond this time, a re-appointment process will be undertaken for all members in accordance with the selection process outlined in the Terms of Reference.
