Drawing material in boxes

Cultural Sketch is part of the creative RISE programs: a series which offers our arts community opportunities to gain skills, pass on knowledge and share experiences.

Featuring artists Carla Gottgens and Maroulla Radisavic, this Cultural Sketch session is a unique evening of art and storytelling.

Explore mark making while hearing from the two of remarkable artists from our roving exhibition HOME 25: Invisible Cities, a roving exhibition now showing across central Dandenong in galleries, streets and unexpected spaces.

About the artists

Carla Gottgens

  • Her sculptural practice draws on Dutch heritage and a Queensland upbringing. Themes of belonging, ritual, and cultural tension shape her deeply personal works.

Maroulla Radisavic

  • A Cypriot poet influenced by nature and Greek philosophy. Her commissioned poem recalls her childhood home; braiding love, grief, and belonging into a monologue on memory and migration.

Throughout the session, sketch and draw the presenters, their favourite objects, the music, or respond creatively to the stories being shared.

No experience is needed—just bring your enthusiasm and let the inspiration flow.

This is a free event; however online registration are required.

Refreshments and alcohol will be served at this session (this event is for people aged 18+).

Materials will be provided.

We Welcome Tolerance, Inclusion, and Respect: Racist, discriminatory, or any other harmful behaviour will not be tolerated at our events.
