About the exhibition
Walker Street Gallery and Arts Centre is proud to present the Australian premiere of internationally acclaimed Cairo-based artist Ibrahim Ahmed. His exhibition, Amidst the Absence, A Present is Felt, showcases a compelling selection of sculptural and photographic works created between 2020 and 2025, including a newly commissioned piece.
Through cut-out silhouettes, miniatures, and hand-crafted interventions, Ahmed examines absence as a form of presence—something felt, remembered, and embodied. His practice interweaves personal and political narratives, exploring themes of masculinity, migration, and colonial legacies. The result is a body of work that is both intimate and richly layered.
Proudly presented by the City of Greater Dandenong.
