Experience the sites, sounds and stories of Invisible Cities.
HOME 25: Invisible Cities is an intuitive exploration through Dandenong's streets and spaces showcasing works of a selection of refugee, asylum seeker, First Nations and migrant artists.
The exhibition is uniquely presented across multiple venues spanning several blocks throughout central Dandenong, such as the cultural precinct (Walker Street Gallery and Arts Centre, the Drum Theatre, Heritage Hill Museum and Historic Gardens), public spaces and the Dandenong Market.
We invite you to join us on a lunchtime tour to discover this unique exhibition.
Featuring the work of 16 artists, the exhibition explores stories of displacement, belonging, and connection to place and Country.
Inspired by Italo Calvino’s 1972 book Invisible Cities, this exhibition invites you to experience “home” not as a fixed place, but as a journey shaped by language, memory, and desire. In the book, Calvino imagines a series of fantastical cities, each revealing something deeper about human nature, memory, and the way we experience the world.
On the tour, we will visit other HOME 25 sites including:
- Walker Street Gallery and Arts Centre
- Heritage Hill Museum and Historic Gardens
- Drum Theatre
- Dandenong Library
- Art in Public Spaces at Harmony Square, Garnar Lane Lightboxes, Drum Facade and Palm Plaza
