Over the past year there has been over $416 million in development approvals and more than 400 planning applications processed within Greater Dandenong. It is safe to say this municipality is positioning itself as a prime destination for residential, commercial, and industrial investment.

On Tuesday 17 June 2025, Greater Dandenong City Council hosted its biennial Real Estate and Developer Forum. This forum brought together members of the local real estate and property development community for a business breakfast focused on investment, innovation, and infrastructure.

The event featured presentations from leading voices in the property sector including Richard Jenkins (BWP Advisors), Samantha Ace (Launch Housing), Tess Clifford (ISPT), and Jacqui Weatherill, CEO of Greater Dandenong City Council.

The forum opened with an economic snapshot of the municipality, highlighting Greater Dandenong’s role as Victoria’s manufacturing capital and a key player in Melbourne’s south-east growth corridor. The event included a networking session, giving attendees the opportunity to connect with council representatives and industry peers.

Key themes included:

  • Insights from the UDIA’s State of the Land Report, showing shifting market dynamics and the need for medium-density, flexible housing solutions.
  • A growing need for social and affordable housing, with over 5,000 applicants on the local housing register.
  • $2 billion Central Dandenong revitalisation project, set to transform the city’s core into a high-rise, mixed-use precinct.
  • The rise of industrial innovation, with ISPT’s Dandenong Works project leading the way in sustainable logistics infrastructure.

Council CEO Jacqui Weatherill emphasised the city’s commitment to strategic planning, sustainable growth, and community wellbeing, noting that “Greater Dandenong is not just growing — it’s transforming.”
