The annual Greater Dandenong Career and Support Expo was held in March at Springvale City Hall. The expo was targeted for those in the community seeking support with their employment and/or education journey.
This free community event provided over 620 guests the opportunity to meet directly with local business and industry to discuss current vacancies, learn about opportunities for training and skill development or seek advice on local community support services.
A particular point of interest was the Dandenong Jobs board which saw over 150 jobs listed on pinboards for attendees to review. The jobs were taken directly from the Dandenong Jobs Website and attendees were encouraged to take a photograph of a job they might be interested in or scan the QR code to take them directly to the website.
Key highlights:
- Over 620 attendees
- 40+ exhibitors
- Over 170 jobs listed on the Greater Dandenong Jobs Board
- Two breakout sessions for speed interviews
- A vibrant networking breakfast
- A free community sausage sizzle
The expo received positive feedback with more than 150 survey responses commenting on every aspect of the day.
One participant said: “The expo was a great opportunity, and I am very happy with the experience overall. I got to meet lots of people in the community in a supportive environment full of like-minded people who wanted to take the initiative and step up their careers.”
A big thank you to all the exhibitors and our event partner, South Eastern Melbourne and Peninsula Job Program for working with us to provide our community with the opportunity to seek career advice and support.
