The 50-metre pool at Oasis Aquatics and Wellbeing has been filled with water, marking one of the project’s most significant and visible construction milestones.
Holding approximately 1.3 million litres of water weighing around 1,300 tonnes, the pool is providing the clearest sense yet of the scale of Oasis Aquatics and Wellbeing.
Mayor of Greater Dandenong, Councillor Sophie Tan, said seeing the 50-metre pool filled brought the project to life in a completely new way.
“Filling the pool changes the whole picture. For the first time, we can look down the 50-metre length and begin to imagine the life it will have when our community dives in.
“There will be first lessons, early morning regulars, children building confidence, families spending time together and friendships formed between the lanes.”
At the moment, the pool has been filled to test for leaks, putting the concrete structure through an important quality check before tiling and the next stages of construction.
“This testing is another important step towards opening our fantastic new facility.”

Oasis Aquatics and Wellbeing is part of Greater Dandenong City Council’s commitment to getting more people, more active, more often and is being built with a $20 million contribution from the Australian Government.
