Dandenong Civic Centre

Greater Dandenong City Council has given the community a sneak peek at the documents that will guide Council’s work over the next four years and beyond.

At their meeting on 12 May, Greater Dandenong councillors endorsed the following documents for public consultation:

  • Proposed Council Plan 2025-29
  • Proposed Annual Plan 2025-26
  • Proposed Budget 2025-26
  • Proposed Long Term Financial Plan 2026-35
  • Proposed Revenue and Rating Plan 2025-26
  • Proposed Asset Plan 2025-35.

Greater Dandenong Mayor, Councillor Jim Memeti said 3300 community members had contributed to the proposed plans and budget so far and their priorities were:

  • Affordable housing
  • Climate change
  • Community safety
  • Council assets
  • Employment and education
  • Open space and trees
  • Social cohesion and connection.

“We captured this feedback in our proposed budget with the planned delivery of key services and infrastructure like the Dandenong Wellbeing Centre and millions of
dollars’ worth of improvements to our road network. All while keeping our residential rates increase to less than 1%, well below the State Government cap of 3%”.

The Mayor added that for the average household, this would mean a rate increase of $12 this year. “We recognise many residents in our community are doing it tough financially and
we’re here to support you. We have many different options available to assist people who are having trouble paying their rates. Get in touch with our staff if you need help.”

Council’s budget spending is guided by the goals and direction in the Council Plan which is also out for community consultation.
