Greater Dandenong City Council is planning for a community hub in central Dandenong at a site bounded by Stuart Street, Clow Street and Sleeth Avenue.
Community hubs are multi-purpose community facilities providing a range of complementary services in a single accessible location. Community hubs generally have a range of shared facilities and functions for community, groups and organisations.
Read about how the project is progressing (July 2025):
- Two rounds of co-design workshops were held in early 2024 and two further rounds took place in February and May 2025.
- After the most recent workshops in May, Council committed to provide co-design participants with an update in July.
- Council have since provided detailed and comprehensive feedback to Councillors on what was heard from co-design participants. They conveyed the strong feelings in support of a large play space, more open space and carparking preferences.
- The appetite from the community for further discussion and consideration on the Dandenong Community Hub while the Dandenong Market Precinct Plan develops was also shared.
- Several options on next steps were provided to Councillors.
- Councillors feel they have heard the priorities of the participants very clearly. They have acknowledged the time, effort and commitment made by community members on the project and value this input.
- The Keysborough Community Hub will open to the community in September 2025 and planning is underway for the official opening in September.
- Council will be monitoring how the new Keysborough Community Hub operates and provides various services to the community.
- During this period Council does not propose to make any further decisions on the Dandenong Community Hub and there are no plans for further co-design workshops in the 2025 calendar year.
Council will provide a further update by December 2025.
