The starting whistle has blown for an exciting new chapter at Greaves Reserve, with a range of upgrades completed and open to the public.
The new facilities include a full-sized acrylic basketball and futsal court, a tennis halfcourt with a rebound wall, new paths, shelters, drinking fountains, picnic and bench seating, as well as landscaping and extensive grassed open spaces.
Greater Dandenong Mayor, Cr Sophie Tan said the improvement works represented the second stage of the Greaves Reserve Master Plan and transformed the reserve into a vibrant hub for recreation and social connection.
“We know that parks and recreation facilities are essential community infrastructure that support healthy lifestyles, encourage social connection, improve wellbeing and help create neighbourhoods where people feel welcome,” Mayor Tan said.
“Combining all these new assets with what was already at Greaves Reserve provides opportunities for people of all ages and abilities. I am proud that we continue to invest in projects that help create healthier, more active and more connected communities.”
More than $900,000 was invested in this project, including a $250,000 contribution from the Victorian Government’s Local Sport Infrastructure Fund.
