Volunteering in Greater Dandenong

This week is National Volunteer Week (19-25 May) and it's a great opportunity to celebrate the power of volunteering to bring people together.

At Greater Dandenong City Council we are fortunate to engage more than 100 volunteers across 12 service areas. Many more volunteer through various organisations and services across our city and beyond.

The theme for this year’s celebrations is Connecting Communities and calls on people who are not currently volunteering to give it a go.

Greater Dandenong Mayor, Cr Jim Memeti said volunteering has positive impacts for the giver and the receiver.

“Volunteers are a wonderful asset for any organisation, and we are particularly grateful for those who support Council programs and services,” Cr Memeti said.

“Studies have proven time and again the value of volunteering in building and sustaining a healthy, resilient community. Volunteering creates lasting relationships that enrich lives and strengthen our society.”
