The roof is on above the warm water pool area at Oasis Aquatics and Wellbeing, marking another major step forward in construction.
Beneath it are two huge warm water pools and a spa stretching more than 16 metres, creating a significantly expanded warm water offering for the community.
Both warm water pools will operate at around 34°C and include accessible entry via an accessible ramp. A retractable wall will create greater flexibility in how the spaces can be used, including for different activities and user groups.
The spa will hold around 125,000 litres of water and include 37 sets of jets. By comparison, the spa at Dandenong Oasis holds around 3500 litres of water.
Mayor of Greater Dandenong, Councillor Sophie Tan, said the new warm water facilities would give more people more ways to stay active, recover and look after their wellbeing.
“The roof is now in place, but what really matters is what sits beneath it: new warm water pools and a spa that will give our community more space for gentle activity, recovery, rehabilitation and wellbeing.”
“For many people, warm water facilities are an important part of staying active, rebuilding confidence and feeling well. Oasis Aquatics and Wellbeing will build on what people value at Dandenong Oasis, with more room, a much larger spa and flexible, accessible spaces designed for different needs.”
Oasis Aquatics and Wellbeing is being built with a $20 million contribution from the Australian Government.
