Greater Dandenong City Council is turning to the community to help name the new aquatics and wellbeing centre that will replace the much-loved but ageing Dandenong Oasis in 2027.
The new centre being built on the corner of Heatherton Road and Cleeland Street in Dandenong will provide modern aquatic, health, fitness and community facilities. It has been designed to promote health and connection across all ages and abilities.
Mayor of Greater Dandenong, Cr Sophie Tan said the team had been working with the community over many months to develop a shortlist. With overwhelming support for keeping ‘Oasis,’ we’re down to two options – Oasis Pools and Wellbeing, or Oasis Aquatics and Wellbeing.
“This is the largest community-focused infrastructure investment our city has ever made, and we want every resident to help shape what comes next,” Mayor Tan said.
These names were tested with focus groups of local people from different ages and backgrounds.
“Now it’s open to the community to help confirm the name of the centre.”
Council encourages residents, families, sports clubs, community organisations and businesses to participate in the consultation by visiting yoursay.greaterdandenong.vic.gov.au.
