Discover Dandenong Creek Festival (Council News Article April 2026)

A person preforming at the festival

Celebrate the vital role Dandenong Creek plays for our environment and explore how you can protect it at our annual Discover Dandenong Creek Festival.

Did you know the creek provides an important habitat link for native flora  and fauna, supporting biodiversity and  a healthy environment?

The creek starts in the Dandenong Ranges and flows through Greater Dandenong all the way to the Patterson River and out into Port Phillip Bay.

Every April we help local residents ‘discover’ the beauty of the creek and the role it plays across our city.

Join us on Thursday 16 April from 11am–2pm, at Tirhatuan Park, 4 Kriegel Way, Dandenong North. Experience a Traditional Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony supported by the Bunurong Land Council and share in a traditional Aboriginal dance performance.

Experience roving performers, a live wildlife show and live entertainment organised by Council’s Amplify youth crew. Get your face painted, enjoy a free sausage sizzle and learn to fish with family and friends.

Learn how to protect the Dandenong Creek now and for generations to come.

Visit the Discover Dandenong Creek webpage for more information.
