We are thrilled to shine a spotlight on Kids Club Dandenong, a true sustainability champion in our community. Their Kinder program is not only nurturing young minds with the basics of life, but is instilling a deep sense of environmental responsibility from an early age.
These young eco-warriors are learning through action:
- Recycling correctly
- Composting food scraps in the green bin
- Reusing materials for creative art and craft projects
- Collecting used batteries in a dedicated tub to keep harmful waste out of landfill
- Encouraging students and parents to walk to kinder
- Collecting plastic bottles and cans through the Container Deposit Scheme — earning 10¢ per item, which they proudly use to buy new books for their library
What’s even more inspiring is how these practices are sparking conversations at home, encouraging families to adopt more sustainable habits too.
In recognition of their outstanding efforts, Kids Club Dandenong has been awarded a Certificate of Appreciation. Their commitment to sustainability makes them a role model for schools and early learning centres across the region.
If your school or kindergarten would like to start or grow your own sustainability initiatives, we're here to support you. Visit our website for more information, or contact us by emailing wasteevents@cgd.vic.gov.au or call 8571 1000.
