Celebrate the reopening of Alex Wilkie Nature Reserve and spring into a new season at Spring Thing on Sunday 6 September.
Bring along the family and celebrate Father’s Day at this annual day of fun. Explore nature play activities on the Sense Trail, take a guided tour of the reserve and hear from Traditional Custodians about the importance of respecting and protecting our land during a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony.
Greater Dandenong Mayor, Cr Sophie Tan invites the community to join our Conservation Team to discover how you can support local biodiversity. Learn how to create your own Garden for Wildlife, take home free indigenous plants to get you started, and enjoy live music, wildlife presentations and a free barbecue.
“Alex Wilkie Nature Reserve is a special place for our community, providing important habitat for native plants and wildlife, and opportunities for our community to connect with nature in the heart of our city,” Mayor Tan said.
This event will celebrate the completion of the Alex Wilkie Nature Reserve Landscape and Accessibility Improvements Project. Jointly funded by Council and the Victorian Government, the project improved accessibility, safety and the visitor experience through upgraded pathways, signage, shade facilities, expanded indigenous planting, wildlife habitat features and enhancements to the Environmental Education Centre.
