Together by Hayden Dewar 2022 Pocket Park Dandenong

Together by Hayden Dewar

Ongoing from December 2021
Pocket Park between Palm Plaza and Lonsdale Street

‘Together’ is a large scale wall mural by established artist and illustrator Hayden Dewar. The new work is located in the Pocket Park between Palm Plaza and Lonsdale street Dandenong.

Hayden’s work explores the area’s past and present and our search for a harmonious existence with nature and each other.

Painted in his signature style, the colourful artwork incorporates mythological humanoid figures and surreal landscapes; featuring supersized native flora and fauna such as a huge ring tail possum and majestic crow resting on a sweeping tree branch.

The artist has been inspired to create a design that acknowledges and celebrates the First Nations people and custodians of the area in addition to the diverse cultural backgrounds of Dandenong residents.

The new work replaces a previous Transformed temporary public art program mural titled 'Aspects of Healthy Bay Wetlands' by Baden Johnson.

The 20-meter-long artwork spans the length of the pocket park that links Palm Plaza and the main street in Dandenong, providing a colourful backdrop for users of the park and pedestrians traversing the area.
