Greater Dandenong Mayor, Sophie Tan, has encouraged community members to shape Council’s work supporting local people with disabilities.

The Mayor thanked the Disability Advisory Committee and Council Plan Deliberative Panel for their contributions to the Draft Disability Action Plan 2026-2030.

“We’re very proud to share this draft with the community for feedback until 5pm on Wednesday 15 July,” Cr Tan said.

“Whether you have lived experience, support people with disabilities or are passionate about this important work, we encourage you to review the plan and have your say.”

Council developed the first Greater Dandenong Disability Action Plan in 1999, and the new version will fulfill Council’s Victorian Disability Act (2006) requirements.

“Most importantly, this update will support us to increase access and inclusion for all community members, from children with developmental delays to older adults,” the Mayor added.

The plan’s key priorities are:

  1. Inclusive employment and economic participation
  2. Accessible and inclusive community infrastructure
  3. Support for carers, families and access to services
  4. Community inclusion, awareness and leadership.
