Council sought feedback from the community which helped shape the final design for Madison Reserve at 21-31 Madison Avenue, Dandenong North.
There was strong support to increase the activities within the reserve and to enhance the landscaping.
The concept plan is aligned with:
- the allocated budget for 2023-2024 financial year
- the staging plan that will inform future capital improvement works bids to Council
- a Neighbourhood level park; see section Appendix B: Park Development Standards of the Greater Dandenong Open Space Strategy 2020-2030.
The upgrade of the Local level playground is not part of this project’s scope of works.
The key elements of the concept plan and the implementation of project works are:
Stage 1 works 2023-24
- new half basketball court with an acrylic surface, basketball/soccer goal, fencing, drainage and a concrete path
- shelter with a picnic table setting.
Future stages – subject to funding
The following projects are subject to future capital improvement bids being supported through council’s annual budget process:
- BBQ
- drinking fountain
- gravel access paths from Blackmore Street and Madison Avenue
- 3 or 4 piece fitness pod
- additional seats and picnic table setting
- new trees
- garden beds with indigenous species.
