Council building

Councillor Angela Long - Cleeland Ward (Council News Article March 2022)

Cr Angela Long

Greater Dandenong City Council will build a new aquatic and wellbeing centre to replace the Oasis swimming pool in J C Mills Reserve, Dandenong, within the Cleeland Ward.

The centre will include on the ground floor an eight lane, 50-metre pool which will have a boom so it can reduce to 25-metres, two warm water pools, a leisure pool, a learn to swim pool, spa, sauna, steam room, toilets and change rooms. Also on the ground floor will be an allied health area, community rooms, cafe, and kitchen. On the first floor will be a large gym, program rooms, toilets, and change rooms.

On the east side of the Dandenong Wellbeing Centre planning is underway for new club rooms for hockey and soccer clubs to replace the old Maurie Jarvis pavilion.

The Oasis swimming pool will not be demolished until the Dandenong Wellbeing Centre is opened to the public. This exciting major project is planned to start next year and be completed by 2025.

Another project I am advocating for is the Dandenong Community Hub which will be built near the Dandenong Market. Design work is underway on this project.

I encourage anyone that is eligible to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Please ensure you have your first two doses and your booster soon; it is how we can best keep each other safe.
