Early education for children is so important, and kindergarten plays a key role in getting our kids ready for school.
Council recognised the need for more kinder places across Greater Dandenong, and last year we celebrated the opening of a new kinder on the grounds of Rosewood Downs Primary School.
The kindergarten has 66 licensed places and was officially opened to students in Term 2 last year. The kinder offers 15 hours of education to children across the three-year-old and four-year-old groups. Since the kinder started operating we have seen a growing number of enrolments, with current figures sitting at 26 three-year-old students 29 four-year-olds.
This facility was jointly funded by Council and the Victorian School Building Authority, and includes an outdoor learning and play space, an administration area, maternal and child health services, and a small community space to support new parent groups and playgroups.
By including these facilities on the same site as the primary school we offer Dandenong North parents an all-in-one space to support their growing families. From those early days with a new baby, to kindergarten and primary school, this building creates a familiar place for children and creates a support network for families as they move through those different stages of life.
This month residents have a final opportunity to have a say on the Draft Budget for 2024–25. As Councillors we have responsibility to allocate your rates to services and projects that benefit our whole community. This Draft Budget
