Councillor Lana Formoso

The safety and wellbeing of our residents are very important to Council, and that is why we are continuing to lobby for road safety improvements to Jacksons Road.

The road is managed by the Victorian Government, so we are advocating for a reduced speed limit and road safety infrastructure. Council has offered to cover any lower cost works, such as signage or line marking, but we cannot make changes to this road without consent from the Department of Transport. We will continue to advocate for necessary improvements to this road.

One road we have completed works on recently is Justin Drive, between Jacksons and Browns roads. We repaired damaged parts of the road surface, with resurfacing and renewal of damaged kerb and channel sections completed in June.

Earlier this year we launched a consultation to find out what locals wanted to see at Hennessy Reserve in Dandenong North. Previously an empty parkland, Council identified the need to provide shade, seating and a playground. With input from locals, Council designed a beautiful, welcoming public space for the whole community to enjoy.

I would like to encourage all Greater Dandenong residents to consider donating blood next month when the Australian Red Cross Lifeblood Pop-up Donor Centre comes to Dandenong. My son was recently diagnosed with leukemia, and our family has seen firsthand the important work of Lifeblood. We want to rally support for the service which is experiencing a shortage of donors. The pop-up centre will be at St Mary’s Community Centre, New Street, Dandenong from Monday 3 to Friday 7 October.
