Councillor Richard Lim

Our suburb is known as sensational Springvale and recent events here have attracted many visitors strengthening our reputation as the place to visit.

Recently, thousands of people came for the 10th annual award-winning Springvale Snow Fest. Prior to that Council ran a program of entertainment for families on school holidays, including live entertainment in Multicultural Place as part of Multicultural Victoria’s In Situ program to reactivate public spaces. These performances were very popular, and I would love to explore putting more live performances and activations on in our public spaces.

Works on the Springvale Boulevard were recently completed, and I want to commend Council and the works contractor MACA Infrastructure who kept local businesses informed of work schedules and possible disruptions every step of the way.

The road is now a fitting entry point to Springvale, creating a signature boulevard that welcomes all and creates a safer environment for motorists and pedestrians. If you haven’t seen the new boulevard now is the perfect time to rediscover what is so special about Springvale.

I want to let residents know that we are working on improvements to the Number 8 Balmoral Avenue multi-deck car park. There are 550 car parking spaces, but occupancy rates are very low. Works to make the car park easier to navigate are underway. Once complete I hope more people will make use of this car park.

The health of our residents is very important to me. I have been providing health seminars to many associations in Springvale over the past 30 years. Recently I held a seminar for the Springvale Italian Senior Citizens Club and for Afri-Auscare.
