Council provides childhood and secondary school vaccinations through the National Immunisation Program for children living and being educated in our municipality.
If your child has had vaccines overseas, see information under ‘Immunisation Certificate/Statement’ for advice before making a booking.
Please select 'Secondary School Immunisation Program' from the main page to view more information about this program.
Types of vaccinations
There are many diseases and infections that vaccination can protect your child against as part of the National Immunisation Program. This includes Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis (Whooping cough), Hepatitis B, Polio, Haemophilus Influenza, Pneumococcal pneumonia, Rotavirus, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Chicken pox and Human Papilloma Virus.
The influenza vaccine is also free for children from six months to less than five years of age.
To find out what vaccines are provided free on the National Immunisation Program view the Immunisation Schedule Victoria.
What do I need to bring to an immunisation session?
- Baby record book (if you have one)
- All immunisation records (including overseas records)
- Medicare card (if you have one)
Reactions to immunisation
It is recommended you wait at the immunisation session for 15 minutes after vaccination in case a rare serious reaction should occur. Information about common side effects will be provided at the time of vaccination.
Most side effects after vaccination are mild and temporary but if you have concerns following vaccination:

- After hours - contact either your doctor, hospital or the Nurse-On-Call Service on 1300 60 60 24
