Walk to school

The City of Greater Dandenong is encouraging families to get active before and after school this month by taking part in VicHealth’s Walk to School program.

As restrictions ease across the state and students return to class, families are urged to leave the car at home and instead walk, ride, scoot or skate to and from school.

Mayor Cr Angela Long said it is important that families find ways to be more active each day.

“Being active every day is good for our community’s health and wellbeing and can enhance social connection. When we support our kids to walk, ride, scoot or skate to school, we’re setting them up for healthy, active adult lives. We’re also making the streets around our schools safer and less congested,” Cr Long said.

The Walk to School program aims to inspire and help children and their families establish active routines for life.
