The Walker Street Gallery and Arts Centre is the City of Greater Dandenong's home of the arts. 

It celebrates and enhances our great city with its diverse exhibitions, artist talks and monthly openings and brings energy and vibrancy to the arts with a contemporary flavor.

The Walker Street Gallery and Arts Centre hosts an exciting range of high quality and diverse exhibitions from leading Australian artists. Funded by the City of Greater Dandenong, this facility is open and free to the public.

We offer private viewings for larger groups (school, age care centre, social group, etc.) outside of our opening hours.

Hiring a spaceĀ at Walker Street Gallery and Arts Centre

Walker Street Gallery and Arts Centre has a range of creative spaces available for hire. Rooms are available for hire seven days a week, from 7.30am to midnight.

Venue Hire Procedures

The Hirer must:

  • Complete the Hire Agreement and return to Walker Street Gallery and Arts Centre
  • Pay the Hire Fee in full
  • Pay the After Hours Security Bond, if required
  • Complete a brief site induction, if required
  • Provide proof of currency for a Public Liability Insurance Policy to the value of $20 million

Please return your Application Form at least 30 days prior to the Hire Date. The Hire Fee and any After Hours Security Bond should be paid at least 20 days prior to the hire date.

A booking is not confirmed until the Hire Agreement has been returned and required Fees and Bond have been paid.

Tentative bookings will only be held for a period of 7 days. Changes to your booking will be accepted up to 7 days before the Hire Date.

If the Hirer terminates the Hire Agreement by notification in writing 14 days prior to the Hire Date, Council will refund the Hire Fee and Bond less a $35 administration fee. The Hire Fee and Bond will be forfeited if the Hirer terminates the Hire Agreement less than 14 days prior to the Hire Date.

Venue Spaces

Band Room Studio 

The Band Room is suitable for workshops and meetings up to 25 people and cocktail style functions up to 40 people.Trestle tables, chairs and a whiteboard are available for use. The room also features a self contained kitchen and toilet facilities. 

Performing Arts Theatre 

The Performing Arts Theatre is suitable for performances, rehearsals, dance groups, workshops and large meetings for up to 70 people. Trestle tables, chairs and a whiteboard are available for use. The room also features a 16 track audio desk, lighting grid with lamps and a fold down elevated seating system (at an additional fee). 

Parking

Parking is available on-site on Mason Street, on the street on Walker Street (fees apply) and at the Walker Street multi-deck car park (fees apply). Dandenong train station and bus terminal are also located a short walk away.
