Development within the Declared Project Area – Central Dandenong

In some cases, the Minister for Planning (not Council), is the responsible authority for deciding planning permit applications.

When this applies

If your application relates to land within the Declared Project Area - Central Dandenong and is for the use and/or development of land that meets any of the thresholds in Clause 72.01 of the Greater Dandenong Planning Scheme, it will be assessed by the Minister for Planning:

  • any application for a permit made by or on behalf of Places Victoria or in relation to land owned by Places Victoria
  • development with a building height of 4 storeys or greater
  • use and/or development for 60 or more dwellings
  • use and/or development with a gross floor area exceeding 10,000 square metres
  • use and/or development where any part of the land is owned by a public authority and/or municipal council and the estimated cost of development is more than $10,000,000
  • the approval and amendment of any development plan, pursuant to Clause 43.04-4, in relation to Schedule 15 to the Development Plan Overlay (Dandenong Plaza Shopping Centre)
  • the approval and amendment of any development plan, pursuant to Clause 43.04-4, in relation to Schedule 16 to the Development Plan Overlay (Revitalising Central Dandenong Sites 11 - 15, Foster Street).
