Is your application eligible

Your proposal must:

Common eligible applications:

  • two-dwelling developments
  • two-lot residential subdivision
  • subdivision of existing dwellings into two lots
  • remove, destroy or lop a canopy tree
  • minor buildings and works
  • small advertising signs
  • car parking reductions.

How the VicSmart process works

The VicSmart process involves four simple steps:

Prepare

Submit

  • Submit your application with all the required information.
  • Pay the application fee - we will send you an invoice for payment.
  • If referral authority consent is needed, you must obtain written consent before lodging.
  • Applications without required consent cannot use VicSmart and will follow the regular permit pathway.

Assess

  • Council reviews your application against pre-set criteria.
  • Further information may be requested, if required.

Decision

  • Council issues a permit or refusal within 10 business days.
