Community Waste Education Programs

The City of Greater Dandenong delivers a range of community waste and recycling education programs within the municipality. To enquire about any of our Waste Education Programs, please contact Council or visit the waste education events page to see what is coming up.

Follow Your Waste tours

Have you ever wondered what happens to your recycling, household rubbish and garden waste once it leaves your kerb? Would you like to learn more about reducing your waste going to landfill and how to become a better recycler?

The Follow your Waste tours allow the community to visit a recycling sorting facility, a landfill site and a garden waste composting facility. To check if there are any tours coming up, visit the waste education events page or email wasteevents@cgd.vic.gov.au to be notified of the next tour.

Waste and recycling workshops

Council hosts a number of waste workshops each year.

They are a great opportunity to learn how to reduce what you send to landfill in a hands-on environment.

The workshops cover a range of themes, including:

  • Reuse art
  • Composting and worm farming
  • Reducing food waste
  • Waste reduction
  • Ethical decluttering
