Get ready to gather your family and friends for the biggest picnic in town. Keysborough’s Big Picnic is back for its third year at Wachter Reserve on April 11 and promises a great time outdoors for all ages.
Young ones can join in the free Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by Parkmore Shopping Centre. There will also be an entertaining program throughout the event with circus acts, live music and performances from local dance studios and sports clubs.
Mayor Angela Long said the Big Picnic is about bringing people together, making connections and celebrating Greater Dandenong’s vibrant and diverse community.
“Big Picnic is a great opportunity to make the most of this wonderful open space. Whether you want to share a meal with family and friends, or enjoy live entertainment, country-style games and free children’s activities, there is something for everyone.” Cr Long said.
It is also a great day out for pets and animal lovers. You can try out the pet photobooth, visit the animal farm and wildlife display or join with your dog in the very Doggy Easter Egg hunt. The Animal Management team will be on site to assist with registration and renewal of registration for pets.
In the Make Your Move Zone local sports clubs are hosting fun, free activities to get you moving such as handball target competitions, climb and slide activities and gym try-out areas.
Bring your picnic blankets and chairs and spend the day trying out the delicious food on offer from the food stalls and trucks popping into the park. You can feast on BBQ skewers, falafels or treat yourself to good old-fashioned ice cream.
This event is adopting Council’s Plastic Use Policy with the aim of eliminating single-use and soft plastic at events. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own drink bottles, reusable utensils and reusable shopping bags.
