December 2021 Update

The Springvale Boulevard Project will see a full upgrade of the road and footpaths located on Springvale Road between Balmoral Avenue and Windsor Avenue.

The construction works will be conducted by MACA Infrastructure Pty Ltd (MACA).

Construction commenced in mid-August 2021 and is expected to finish by late-August 2022.

What can you expect

Changes to access to Windsor Avenue, from Springvale Road

From 9pm on Sunday 5 December to 5am on Monday 20 December 2021, access to and from Windsor Avenue from Springvale Road will be temporarily closed. For the safety of workers, Windsor Avenue will be closed to complete public lighting and traffic signals works as part of Stage 2 of the Project. Drivers will be detoured via St James Avenue and Buckingham Avenue to access Windsor Avenue (see image below).

Springvale Road closure

There will be night-time closures on Springvale Road between Windsor Street and Balmoral Street from Sunday to Friday, between 9pm and 5am from Sunday 21 November through to Friday 17 December. Springvale Road will remain open during the day. During the closure, traffic controllers will be on site to maintain local access. Signage will be displayed to show detours, and drivers will be encouraged to follow signed detour routes.

What we’ve done so far

Since our last update we have:

  • completed Stage 1, centre median works
  • completed site investigations to better understand the ground conditions before we start major construction
  • commenced drainage works and have almost finished Stage 2A focussed on the Windsor Avenue intersection.

Upcoming works

Stage 2B and 2C drainage works

Once works have been completed on Stage 2A, focussed on the Windsor Avenue intersection, drainage works will begin up the eastern side of Springvale Road.

Works will start at the Windsor Avenue intersection and work north up Springvale Road towards Balmoral Avenue.

The project team will be taking a break over the Christmas and New Year period. The last day of work will be on Friday 24 December with works beginning again on Monday 10 January 2021.

Changed traffic conditions

During the drainage works there will be changes to traffic conditions, however there will always be two lanes in each direction. Please be aware and look out for signage and traffic controllers.
