Councillor Rhonda Garad - Keysborough South Ward (Council News Article March 2022)

Cr Rhonda Garad

It is tremendous to see so many people enjoying the two new dog parks, since the opening of the new section along Villiers Road. The 90 trees that were planted last year, in and around the dog parks, are doing well and will soon provide greater shelter for dogs and their owners.

The old dog park is still in use until the work on the Keysborough Hub starts later in the year. Unfortunately, construction of the Hub has been delayed due to COVID-19 impacts, the Green Star accreditation process, and some changes within the architectural firm overseeing the project.

Work on the two public toilets at Westwood Boulevard and Picnic Park have commenced and will be completed very soon. These will be welcomed new amenities for users of the parks.

Further improvements to Westwood Boulevard have commenced with the upgrade of the sports and recreation area and the exciting redevelopment of the playground later in the year.

Finally, we have started a local group of volunteers to assist with planting native plants in nature strips. This will not only reduce the need for mowing but also increase insect life in Keysborough. If you would like to be part of the group or want to plant your nature strip, please get in touch with me.
