If you read The Age, you know our flexible ways to pay your rates are getting attention.
Hear about how we can help you keep on track, from Greater Dandenong Mayor, Councillor Sophie Tan:
“We recognise that ratepayers may experience financial difficulty at times. Everyone’s circumstances are unique and financial challenges impact people differently.
Our focus is on making it easy for people to stay on track with their rates so they don’t get into arrears, including through SMS reminders. We offer flexible ways to pay, such as using Payble.
Paying the traditional lump sum or in quarterly installments is challenging for people on a tight budget. So we offer weekly, fortnightly and monthly options and have found paying monthly is popular with many of our residents. You can even choose which weekday works best for you.
We also provide payment plans to help people get back on track with their repayments, if they have fallen behind.
Many local households are doing it tough and residents experiencing extreme financial difficulties may qualify for assistance under our Hardship Policy.
We encourage anyone in our community who is struggling to pay their rates to call us so we can talk through the best options to support them. Our approach is compassionate and customer-centric.
We have translation services available for residents who find it easier to speak to someone in their language. Likewise, residents can read through information in-language on our website, in their own time.
