As part of our community project, the 2023 Young Leaders organised a Climate Change stall at Greater Dandenong Youth Fest to educate local young people about home recycling and textile waste.

Festival goers enthusiastically participated in our recycling activity where they sorted rubbish into ‘bins’ to win prizes. Our stall also featured a clothing swap, where we successfully rehomed items of clothing, contributing to sustainable practices and raising awareness about textile waste and a circular economy.

We also developed and displayed digital fact sheets about textile waste and home recycling to simplify key messages largely through images to assist Greater Dandenong’s diverse community, particularly for those members where English is a second language. These fact sheets are now accessible on Council’s website.
