People holding rubbish

Clean Up Australia Day

People collection rubbish

Clean Up Australia inspires communities to improve and conserve our environment, eliminate litter and end waste.

More than 21 million Aussies have participated in Clean Up Australia activities and events over the past three decades.

The focus is as much on preventing rubbish entering our environment as it is removing what has already accumulated.

Clean Up Australia day is held annually on the first Sunday in March each year. In 2024, Clean Up Australia Day will be held on Sunday 3 March.

Community members are encouraged to find local events near them. Some sites may be listed as private and are unable to welcome members of the public. If you find an event and would like to join, we encourage you to register online as it helps site supervisors anticipate numbers and plan accordingly. It also means you can be automatically notified if there are any last minute changes.

If you are unable to find an event near you please consider signing up to do your own Clean Up - you don't need to organise a big group - you can get involved as a individual or family.

Visit the Clean Up Australia Day website for more information.
