It is great to see our wonderful city flourishing once again after what has been a challenging period for us all.
After bringing it to Council’s attention in 2020–21 as part of my Capital Improvement Program bid, I am pleased to see plans are underway to make streetscape improvements along the Railway Parade Shopping Centre. Community consultation has beencompleted and will be considered when putting plans together.
As part of the Noble Park Suburban Revitalisation project, the Victorian Government will invest $680,000 in the Ian Street streetscape project to deliver new public lighting, street furniture and landscaping, as well as the relocation of powerlines along the retail and dining strip.
Vital drainage works are underway along Callander Road, which will address the overflow of rainwater. These works will be very welcome given the rainfall we have already had this year and will reduce damage caused by any possible flooding in the area.
I encourage everyone to get involved with Council’s Make Your Move strategy. Parkrun at Dandenong Park is held every Saturday morning and is a great way to get more active. My personal best so far is 36 minutes for a 5km run/walk, an improvement on 41 minutes and 40 minutes for my first two attempts. It would be great to see more of our city’s residents getting involved.
